**Kindred Wrap Shrug** The Kindred Wrap Shrug was created from years of inspiration, requests, and a little bit of knitting nostalgia. After the release of my [Wrapped in Cozy Shrug][1], a bulky-weight, cable-knit design that was one of my very first published patterns, many knitters asked for a version that captured the same cozy, effortless style but with a simpler construction and a lighter-weight yarn. The Kindred Wrap Shrug is the answer to those requests, combining the comfort and versatility of the original with an approachable, beginner-friendly design in DK weight. As a fun bit of history, this design has actually been with me for much longer than this pattern! Back in 2015, I regularly knit and sold finished versions of this shrug at craft fairs and to local customers, long before I ever sat down to write the pattern. After years of wearing, gifting, and refining the design, I'm so excited to finally share it with knitters everywhere. The Kindred Wrap Shrug is knit seamlessly in one continuous piece by working Sleeve 1, the Body, and then Sleeve 2. The relaxing garter stitch body is complemented by cozy K2, P2 double rib sleeves, creating a timeless layering piece that is as enjoyable to knit as it is to wear. It effortlessly pairs with everything from jeans and a T-shirt to your favorite dress, making it a versatile addition to any handmade wardrobe. The sample shown was designed using a beautiful six-color DK gradient set from Moonglow Yarn Co., paired with a coordinating Main Color. The thoughtfully planned color blocks are mapped for every size, ensuring the proportions remain balanced and visually appealing across the entire size range. Of course, the shrug is just as beautiful worked in a single color or with your own favorite color palette. Designed with beginners in mind, the Kindred Wrap Shrug uses simple stitches, minimal shaping, and straightforward construction to create a polished garment without unnecessary complexity. Whether you're knitting your very first wearable or simply looking for a relaxing project, this pattern is approachable, enjoyable, and rewarding from start to finish. **Sizes** XS/S (28-34" / 71-88 cm), M/L (35-42" / 89-108 cm), XL/2XL (43-50" / 109-129 cm), 3XL/4XL (51-58" / 130-149 cm), 5XL/6XL (59-64" / 150-163 cm) **Materials** • DK Weight (#3) yarn • Main Color (MC): 180 [200, 220, 240, 250] yds / 165 [183, 201, 219, 229] m • Contrast Colors (C1-C6): 145 [163, 180, 205, 233] yds / 133 [149, 165, 187, 213] m each • US 9 (5.5 mm) 32-40" circular needles for the body • US 9 (5.5 mm) double-pointed needles (optional) • US 7 (4.5 mm) 16" circular needles or US 7 (4.5 mm) 32-40" circular needles for the Magic Loop Method for the sleeves • Stitch markers • Tapestry needle • Scissors **Skills Needed** • Knit • Purl • Cast on • Bind off • Work flat • Knit in the round • K2, P2 ribbing • Basic seaming • Weave in ends **Accessibility** This pattern includes three complete versions so every knitter can choose the format that best meets their needs. The Color-Coded Version uses color-coding per the directions for each size, but it also has parentheses, brackets, and braces to identify the sizes too. The Colorblind Accessible Version follows Ravelry's accessibility recommendations with black text on a white background, clean formatting, and consistent use of parentheses, brackets, and braces to clearly identify each size throughout the pattern. The Low Vision Version contains the complete pattern in 24-point font while maintaining the same high-contrast black-on-white formatting and identical size notation. **Sleeve Options** The sleeves can be knit using either: • Knit in the round using 16-inch circular needles or the Magic Loop Method using 32-40-inch circular needles • Knit flat using 16-inch circular needles and then seamed Both methods are fully written into the pattern, allowing you to choose the technique you prefer. I hope the Kindred Wrap Shrug becomes one of those handmade pieces you reach for again and again. Thank you for helping bring this long-loved design full circle. Happy knitting!
