The half linen stitch combined with the color progression in the Cotonella yarn creates an impressionistic feel. Have fun with the colors! If you want the contrast of certain colors or to shorten the length of one color progression, feel free to cut the yarn and add a different color. I recommend using the Magic Knot method for joining yarns. However, if you want it just like the model picture, I used the natural rhythm of the Cotonella yarn with one exception; After dividing for the wings, I wound off some of the color I was using to make sure the color transition when I picked up stitches for the second wing would be consistent. I found that keeping just one yarn consistent on that second wing is enough to give the piece a holistic aesthetic.
