These socks feature a bold, interlocking cable motif that creates a rhythmic, chain-like pattern as it travels down the leg and across the foot. Despite its intricate appearance, the design is built from a simple repeating rib and regularly placed cable crosses, making the pattern intuitive and satisfying to work once established. The cables may also be reversed on the second sock to create a mirrored pair. The socks are knitted from the cuff down, beginning with a simple ribbed cuff before transitioning into the all-over cable pattern. They are worked with a patterned heel flap and followed by a cabled instep and plain Stockinette stitch sole. Two toe options are included: a patterned toe that carries the cable motif into the shaping, or a simpler ribbed toe for greater flexibility in adjusting the finished foot length. Materials -1 skein of fingering-weight yarn.
The sample uses Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in Coquette. -2.5 mm (US 1.5) needles suitable for working a small circumference in the round. The sample was worked using flexible DPNs, but standard DPNs, magic loop, or two circular needles may also be used. -Stitch markers and a tapestry needle. Gauge
