1916 Tshirt

The 1916 Collection is a tribute to my great-grandmother. She taught me to knit when I was seven years old. I still remember how the slippery metal double-pointed needles slipped from my hands countless times, but she never gave up on me. This collection is my way of honouring the craft she passed on to me more than twenty years ago. The 1916 T-Shirt is a cropped lace T-shirt with relaxed shoulders and raglan-style shaping along the back. It is worked from the top down. The back is knitted first, then stitches are picked up along the shoulders to shape a gentle V-neckline that ends a few centimetres below the collarbone. When the front and back pieces are complete, they are joined at the underarms and the body is worked in the round. The body, sleeves and neckline are all finished with an I-cord edging.
