A labyrinth is actually an intricate shape designed to calm and focus you, instead of a maze which is meant to confuse and disorient. A labyrinth has a single path through the corridors, a sort of meditative journey for quieting the mind. Thus is this square designed, with a single path you can trace with your finger or gaze to reach the center. The overall feeling of the square is rather celtic, mystic and elegant. This square is worked with double crochets using a tapestry method, where two colors are carried simultaneously and worked with in turn. The resulting square has a very even texture with no big holes and a smooth feel, and makes for a perfect blanket. Both sides of the square are neat and almost identical. One square is a whopping 55x55cm/21.6 x21.6in in size when made with medium weight yarn and 4mm hook. Needed supplies -Yarn in two colors (This tutorial uses worsted/medium/weight 4 yarn) -Border color (Green in this tutorial. One square needs average of 70g/140m/153y of medium weight yarn) -Path color (Off-white in this tutorial. One square needs average of 90g/180m/196y of medium weight yarn) -4mm crochet hook -Tapestry needle (for joining the squares) If you’re planning to make a blanket with these squares, take into account the extra yarn needed for crocheting a border. This 9-page digital PDF contains a graph and written + photo instructions for creating and joining the squares.
