Kukki is a bib that is thick and absorbent, yet light. The closure features multiple buttonholes, letting you adjust the fit as needed for a growing baby. The name of this bib means “bug” in the Livonian language. I chose it because my daughter keeps trying to pluck a ladybug from a page in one of her books. **Construction** The bib is worked flat from the bottom up, starting with a folded edge. It is shaped by using short rows. After casting off most of the stitches, a closure with four buttonholes is knit at the side of the bib. Then a button is sewn onto the other side of the bib. **Size** Closed bib circumference: 27-41cm/ 10¾ -16¼in Bib length at longest point: 10.5cm/4¼in **Yarn and materials** * 30m/33yds/20g Aran weight cotton yarn (includes approx. 10% buffer) **Recommended yarn:** 1 50g/1.8oz ball of Drops Paris (100% cotton, 75m/82yds), picot edge sample was knit in uni colour 65 rust, plain folded edge sample was knit in uni colour 71 tangerine. * 5mm/ US 8 circular or straight knitting needles * A tapestry needle for weaving in ends * One button, approx. 17mm in diameter * A needle and thread for attaching the button. **Gauge** 10x10 cm/ 4x4 in = 16 stitches x 24 rows in stockinette stitch, after blocking.
