Lochside Shawl

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but every time I wore a traditional triangular shawl outdoors, the ends always seemed to end up underneath me, trailing through wet grass or getting caught on whatever I was sitting on. It annoyed me enough that I thought, surely there's a better way? So I designed one. Lochside is a half-hexagon shawl, designed to give you all the warmth and comfort of a traditional shawl without all the extra fabric getting in the way. It sits neatly around your shoulders, making it perfect for walks, afternoons beside a loch, or simply throwing on when there's a wee chill in the air. The pattern uses simple (US terms) double crochet and chain stitches to create alternating solid and mesh sections, giving the finished shawl a lovely drape while keeping it lightweight enough to wear throughout the year. Once you've worked the first few rows, it's an easy four-row repeat that's relaxing to crochet and perfect for those evenings when you just fancy a wee project to unwind with.
