Sofia Shrug

The Sofia Shrug is a lightweight, cropped shrug with an i-cord closure at the front. It is knit from the top down and has a drop shoulder construction with a slightly boxy silhouette and flared sleeves. The body is knit flat with increases for the neckline, the sleeves are picked up and knit in the round, and the front neckline edging is picked up and knit flat. The sizes 1 (2) 3 (4) 5 (6) 7 (8) are designed to fit a bust measurement of: 31-33 (33-34) 34-36 (36-38) 38-41 (41-44) 44-47.5 (47.5-51) inches 78.7-83.8 (83.8-86.4) 86.4-91.4 (91.4-96.5) 96.5-104.1 (104.1-111.8) 111.8-120.7 (120.7-129.5) cm Please note these sizes will only be met if you are knitting to the required gauge, pick the best size based on your bust measurement. The sample in the photo is knit in a size 2, fitting a bust measurement of 34" [86.4cm], with a finished measurement of 35" [91.4cm], giving 1" of ease. **Yarn:** 250 (250) 250 (300) 300 (300) 350 (350)g of fingering weight yarn. Sample is knit in: Juniper Moon Herriot Fine in the color Black River Stone 2006 (100g = 420m [459yds]) **Needles:** Circular Needles: 4mm [US6] and 3.5mm [US4] needles, or needle size required to meet pattern gauge. Cable Lengths: 16" [40cm] for sleeves and 32"/40" [80/100cm] for body Optional: 3.5mm DPNs (for knitting i-cord) **Gauge:** 23 Stitches x 33 Rows = 4" x 4" [10cm x 10 cm] in stockinette on 4mm needles (or needle size required to meet gauge) The Sofia Shrug is designed to have a looser gauge than is typical to give the finished garment a very loose and lightweight fabric.
