Bananarama Socks

The Bananarama Socks were inspired by a conversation with my daughter. I had just given her a finished pair of my Short and Sweet Socks that are themed on strawberries. She suggested it would be fun to have banana socks, so of course I immediately dyed up some yarn! Bryony wanted the socks to look like a slightly underripe banana, so I added in tiny green speckles. The stitch pattern I designed is intended to resemble the ridges on a banana, and I had great fun knitting these up. This pattern would also work well with self-striping and pretty much any kind of dye technique. **Sock Details** The socks feature a simple and intuitive textured stitch pattern that is easy to memorise. They are knitted top down with a heel flap, french heel turn and my much loved Umbrella Toe. **Sizes** The pattern comes in 3 sizes - Small (56 sts), Medium (64 sts) and Large (72 sts). The stitch pattern is both written and charted and each size has it's own individual chart. Instructions are written for the magic loop method, but other methods can of course be used. **Yarn** I used a fingering weight yarn that I dyed myself. This is a 85/15 blend of superwash merino and nylon and is 400m to 100g. You can use any suitable banana coloured yarns that you wish, but this pattern would also suit a wide variety of other yarns.
