Eau De Pawfume Summer Cardigan

This Eau de Pawfume Summer Cardigan is inspired by Bonggu’s paw pads, full of cute (and very smelly) little paw prints. The entire cardigan is covered with adorable paw motifs, and eyelets are added for better ventilation, making it perfect for cool summer wear. The design stays simple overall, so the cute details don’t feel overwhelming and it’s easy to style in everyday outfits. It is designed with a regular fit rather than an oversized silhouette, and can be worked relatively quickly with a gauge of 22.5 sts. The model has a bust circumference of approximately 90 cm (35.4") and is wearing size L. For the sleeveless version, you can follow the sleeve instructions to pick up stitches, skip the sleeve, and finish directly with a ribbing cuff. For a shorter sleeve, working the paw motif repeat only once also looks lovely. In the sample, the sleeves were worked a bit longer and slightly roomy to comfortably cover the upper arms. You can choose between two options for the button bands: working them at the same time as the body, or working them separately after finishing the body. For a summer garment, I personally prefer the after-construction method, like the sleeveless sample. The simultaneous method gives a cleaner and more minimal look. In this version, instead of making buttonholes, crochet chain loops were added along the button band. **SIZES** 2XS (XS, S, M, L) XL (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL) Please refer to the last photo in the thumbnail list for detailed measurements. **YARN** Le Petit Organic Cotton (100% organic Cotton, 100g / 300m) 2 (2, 2, 3, 3) 3 (4, 4, 4, 4) skeins or 510 (540, 570, 690, 750) 870 (930, 990, 1050, 1080) m / 560 (590, 620, 750, 820) 950 (1020, 1080, 1150, 1180) yds of fingering weight yarn. **NEEDLES** Large: US 4 (3.5mm) - 32-40” / 80-100 cm circular needles for the body, 16” / 40cm circular needles for the sleeves. Small: US 3 (3mm) - 80 / 100cm circular needles for the hem, cuff, button bands, neckband. **GAUGE** 22.5 stitches and 35 rows / Large needles / Stockinette stitch / 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4") / after blocking. **NOTIONS** Stitch markers, stitch holder or waste yarn, tapestry needle. **CONSTRUCTION** The cardigan is worked top down, beginning with the back. The shoulders are shaped with short rows, and the Paw print pattern is worked to the underarms. Stitches are then picked up from each back shoulder to work the fronts. Shape the neckline and work each front to the underarms. While working the fronts, choose your preferred button band option. Once both fronts are complete, join them to the back at the underarms and work the body. After the body is finished, pick up stitches around each armhole and work the sleeves in the round. Finally, pick up stitches around the neckline to work the neckband. If you choose to work the button bands separately, complete them before working the neckband.
