Yarn Over Grandma’s Purls

This lovely little shawl looks like you were sweating over your needles to create it while you know it was an easy, tv-watching, passenger-riding project. The shawl can be made by any level knitter including beginners ready to try something a bit more than a basic garter scarf. (But aren’t those just lovely in chunky yarns?) The main body of the shawl is asymmetrical and consists of alternating stockinette and garter eyelet sections complemented by the simple lace at the bottom. The simple lace added to the bottom of the shawl is only 9 rows plus the bind off; most rows are repeated making it easily memorized for on-the-go stitching. This shawl can be used to make any yarn shine like a superstar. I love tonal, hand-dyed, pooling and variegated yarn but they don’t always look their best in many intricate patterns. This is the shawl for all your singleton unique skeins waiting for that special pattern to make them the star. The scarf works up best using US #4 / 3.5mm circular knitting needles to keep the stockinette solid but there is not a required “gauge” - use whatever size needles you need to create the fabric you desire.
