Leafy Coaster

How about a cozy cup of tea, coffee or maybe a lemonade in the garden? Make yourself a whimsical Leaf Coaster for the occasion. Or bring some of that summer garden feeling back into your cozy reading corner! This nature inspired coaster is double layered and knit in the round. So it is fully reversible and thick enough, to protect your surfaces. It is perfect for using up left over cotton yarn from your latest summer garment project =) **Finished dimensions:** If you use Schachenmayr Catania 100% Cotton 50g / 125m or 1.75 oz / 137 yards or a similar yarn and 2.5mm / 1.5 US needles you will end up with a leaf coaster that is approx. 9cm / 3.5 inches in diameter, with is ideal for a coaster. **Sizes:** One size - approx. 9cm / 3.5 inches in diameter. You can vary the size by using a different yarn weight. **Yarn:** Schachenmayr Catania 100% Cotton 50g / 125m or 1.75oz / 137 yards or Lana Grossa Cotone 100% Cotton 50g /125m or 1.75oz / 137 yards or any similar cotton yarn. I would stay away from synthetics, as some might not deal well with hot temperatures. **Needle:** 2.5mm / 1.5 US needles or whatever needle fits your yarn and gauge. **Gauge** 5cm = 14 sts x 20 rows **Skill level:** Eager beginner to intermediate You should know how to… * knit in the round with a small amount of sts - either with dpns, magic loop, two circular needles or whatever you prefer. * work increases such as m1l, yo, and lifted increases like LLI and RLI * work decreases such as ssk, k2tog and k3tog If you know most of these techniques , but are missing one or two: don’t worry, most of these are easily learned from a youtube video. This pattern might still be doable for you. **You will need:** * 5 dpns (I prefer the shorter ones here with 10cm / 4 inches length) or a circular needle both in 2.5mm / 1.5 US * three detachable st markers - one of then unique * a needle to weave in the ends. * scissors * about 11g /0.38oz of yarn A huge thanks to my lovely Testing Team!
