Following My Dreams Shawl

This shawl was designed for the Knitters Guild of NSW as the 2026 FibreFest crocheted shawl. The design is based on my earlier 'Dreams' freeform shawl (shown in the last photo), taking the construction method and selected lace patterns from that piece. This shawl is worked from the long top edge downwards, with two bands of moss stitch with rows of decreasing length, interspersed with bands of lace, finished with a picot border. As well as working up beautifully in wool, it also works with a cotton or a blend. A gradient yarn such as a Scheepjes Whirl works well and the shawl will be easily made from one 1000m cake. The shawl can easily be made larger by using a slightly larger hook than that recommended to give the specified gauge. That, of course, will make a somewhat more open fabric and require more yarn.
