Boardwalk Scarf

This scarf/neck tie pattern is inspired by the perfect spring day. It isn't too hot to wear a little neck scarf because the beautiful spring breeze billowing in from the water seems to leave a little bit of a chill, with the sun quickly stepping in to aid in warming you. It is the PERFECT scrappy project! This pattern is written for a DK weight yarn and uses under 50 grams per color! Of course, check yardages as well to ensure you have enough, but it is a great stash busting project. It is shaped using ONLY DECREASES. That's right! And it is all over garter which means only knitting, and no rolled edges. This scarf is only ever worked with decreases meaning the amount of knitting to do gets smaller and smaller each row, with the following rows growing shorter and quicker. This design strategy ensures a WIP that will not stay a WIP for long, as several of my test knitters ended up knitting 2 within the testing period. It uses US size 3 and 4 needles, but if you work your i-cord a little more tightly, you will only need a size 4. The inspiration behind this design strategy of only decreasing and using up scraps goes hand in hand with my mission to make knitting patterns that are more accessible to mom life. We are busy, sometimes don't have the focus to keep checking a pattern, and don't have a ton of time to dedicate to ourselves- but that doesn't mean we don't want something beautiful to create with our hands and then decorate ourselves with. The stripes on this pattern are customizable and offer opportunity to play around with color. The i-cord edging gives a clean finish that elevates a look.
