"Endless Fall" Overlay Mosaic Cardigan

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced Crochet Terminology: US crochet terminology Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL Yarn weight: DK, in two contracting colors. This pattern is for a crocheted cardigan with a buttoned front and leaf motifs, using overlay mosaic crochet techniques, including the “endless” technique. The cardigan has a circular yoke, made top-down in one piece, requiring no seaming. The body and the sleeves are made with the Block Stitch. This pattern is not complicated, but uses a special technique; if you are completely new to crochet as a craft, this will be too challenging as a first project. If you are confident in your basic crochet skills, especially if you have done some mosaic crochet, this may be a good challenge project. Even if you are experienced with mosaic crochet, you may still need to learn the specific technique used for the yoke, the “endless overlay mosaic crochet” technique. This is a method where you alternate working on the RS and the WS of the project, without cutting the yarn. This eliminates the yarn tails that are common with the traditional overlay mosaic. The pattern provides basic tutorials for this technique, and an additional small practice/gauge swatch project. The pattern includes tutorials, written instructions, mosaic charts, row-by-row progress pictures for the mosaic yoke, and lots of pictures for all the other parts. There are short videos accompanying the stitch tutorials for the special technique stitches. The cardigan is worked from the neck down. This allows you to try it on early, see how it fits, and make necessary adjustments. Basic instructions for adjustments are also provided in the pattern. Left-handed crocheters: you can work on this pattern without any problems. Left-handed mosaic charts are provided, and the written instructions work for both right-handed and left-handed people, if you use the “endless” overlay mosaic technique.
