**NEW for 2026!** Thanks to our fabulous testers and our Tech Editor Melissa!
**20% OFF from now through April 30, 2026!**
Gentle waves captivate the eye in this rectangular wrap, shown in lace weight yarn. The larger version of our Wavelands Scarf, with **both written and charted** stitch instructions and nearly endless possibilities! You could make anything from a 12 in (30.5 cm) wide scarf to a king size bedspread.
We rate this as an intermediate pattern. **Skills required:** lace knitting (pattern on right side rows only all wrong side rows are purl), yarnovers, knit two together, slip slip knit, and central double decrease. We provide charts for those who prefer them, and long form written instructions for those who don't.
The white sample shown here was a gift for my niece's wedding. It is the larger version knitted in crochet cotton at the gauge of 22 sts per 4 in (10 cm) and measures 29 in x 62.5 in (73.5 cm x 159 cm). It took 1110 yds (1015 m).
The blue sample was done in Inka, by Mirasol Yarns with size 10 needles at a gauge of 13 sts per 4 in (10 cm) and measures 30 in (76 cm) x 72 in (183 cm). Check out the completed projects and project notes for some options in other yarns and gauges.
**What you get:**
* Charted and written instructions
* Two sizes - more if you change repeats
* Our SWAG chart (see photos) with
yardage (meterage) and finished
dimensions at 14 different gauges -
from 6 sts to 32 sts per 4 in (10 cm). So
you can use any yarn from your stash
or purchase online with confidence.
* The SWAG chart is included in the
photos, as it would not fit here.
* Detailed instructions for **Yarn
Chicken** - the game where you try
to use up all of your yarn. Calculate
how far your yarn will go and how big
your wrap will be with the yarn you
choose.
The sizes range from 12 in (30.5 cm) to 107 in (272 cm) wide and from 43 in (109 cm) long to 229 in (581 cm) long depending upon your gauge and how long you want to knit. We tell you how to adjust the length so that you don't actually have to knit 20 feet (nearly 6 m), but you can if you want!
