This pattern is 20% off until March 26 (GMT). The Selin Shawl is a triangle shawl, knit sideways from tip to tip. Except for the edges, the entire scarf is worked in half fisherman’s rib. The rib pattern differs on each side; however, both sides are suitable to be worn as the right side. Gauge / With 3.5 mm (US 4) needle: 26 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10cm / 4 x 4” in stockinette stitch after blocking. (This is provided for knitters to make a swatch and to use it as a guideline when selecting yarn) 21 sts x 38 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” in half fisherman’s rib stitch after blocking Since shawls are not as size-sensitive as fitted garments, small gauge differences usually do not matter. Feel free to use a yarn you enjoy. In theory, this shawl can be worked in any yarn. However, half fisherman’s rib produces a thicker fabric than stockinette stitch. If a much heavier yarn is used, the fabric may become too thick for the ends to tie as shown in the sample. Finished measurements: The finished shawl can be made in any size you prefer. My sample measures 136 cm/53.5” from tip to tip and 38 cm/15” at the widest point. If you would like the two ends to be long enough to tie in front, I recommend following my measurements as a reference. Yarn: Cardiff Cashmere, Classic, 100% Cashmere, 25g / 112m. No.709 LIFE: 4 Balls. Approx. 448m. Needles: 3.5 mm (US 4)
