CONSTRUCTION This slipover is worked from the bottom up in the round. It begins with a deep ribbed hem, which is followed by an all-over colourwork pattern with knit and purl stitches. the textured allover pattern imitates the bark of the windswept pines along the coast: greyish brown close to the ground and redder closer to the top. The greyish brown and reds of the bark, along with the pale green needles, the limestone, the sea and the sky, all form my Gotland palette. The armholes and neckline are steeked. Once the steeks are cut the stitches are secured from the WS, using the blanket stitch. The shoulder stitches are joined by grafting. Stitches are picked up around the neckline and armholes. The neckline is worked in a rib that matches the one on the hem, while the armholes are finished with an I-cord Bind-Off. Simple and elegant. The chart is read from the bottom up, from right to left.
