**DETAILS**
I fell in love with this soft yellow yarn the moment I saw it, and knew I wanted to knit it into something sweet & summery! This little number does double duty - a summer weather tank top or cooler weather vest to be layered over a longer top. The Butter Vest is worked from the top down, seamlessly, beginning with the back neck, and has 2 different body length options.

**SUGGESTED YARN**
*For this vest, I wanted to use a yarn that would lend itself well to warmer weather and the transition seasons. Cotton and linen yarns can sometimes be hard on my hands while knitting, due to their lack of elasticity. So I was overjoyed when I found The Wandering Flock’s Cotton Lino. The unique blend of Organic Cotton, Mulberry Silk, Linen and Alpaca is unlike anything else I have knit with. It creates a stunning fabric with drape and character, and my hands felt great while knitting with it! I also wanted to see how this vest would knit up in wool, and I am thrilled with how my handspun version turned out!.This pattern truly is a great wardrobe staple that you can play with different yarns to achieve results for different preferences and seasons!*

*If you know me, you know my deep love of wool! After I finished my first Butter Vest, I immediately wanted to see how it would work up in wool yarn. I dove into my precious handspun stash and found the perfect spindle-spun yarn that I'd been saving for something special. And it turned out perfectly! I think most wool sport weight yarns would sub in beautifully!*
Here are the details for my yarn:
**Fiber:** Polwarth & Sari Silk Batt hand processed by Melly Knits
**WPI:** My finished yarn was 12 WPI, and knit up as a sport weight.
**Spinning Notes:** I spun this fiber woolen on support spindles, for a 2-ply yarn. I found I used a very similar yardage to my original sample!
**SUGGESTED NEEDLES**
**Main:** US 4/3.5 mm – 32”/80 cm to 40”/100 cm circular
**Ribbing:** US 2/2.75 mm - 16”/40 cm for armholes & 32”/80 cm to 40”/100 cm circular for Hem and Button Band.
*(Use the needle size you need to achieve gauge. Go down 2 needle sizes for the ribbing.)*
**NOTIONS**
4 - 5 (Crop) or 5 - 6 (Full) - 1/2"/12.5 mm buttons, stitch marker (1), locking stitch markers (2), tapestry needle, stitch holders or waste yarn, row counter (optional)
