Catenary Curve

Catenary Curve is an elongated semi-circular shawl worked in a single 100 g ball of 4 ply yarn, designed to sit comfortably on the shoulders and wrap easily as a scarf, with a fluid, uncluttered silhouette. The body of the shawl is worked in brioche, creating a softly structured fabric that highlights the interplay of light and shadow within the stitches. When worked in a yarn with long, gradual colour changes, the shaping when blocked produces a series of gentle coloured arches across the fabric, emphasising the curve of the design without the need for multiple colours. A subtle lace eyelet edging traces the outer curve, introducing gentle openness while maintaining the clean, modern lines of the shawl. Quietly architectural and deliberately simple, Catenary Curve places emphasis on shape, surface and movement. Worked from a single ball, it is well suited to showcasing yarns with evolving colour while offering a calm, focused knitting experience.
