Celtic Style Book & Ipad Cover

Funny enough, this design was originally intended to become a scarf but out of necessity, it grew to become an Ipad/Book cover! If you wished to create a scarf, you could easily do so by continuing this cable knitting pattern until your desired length. As a note, I would not describe this pattern as “tv knitting” – it takes a level of concentration and tracking to not lose your place in the pattern. I would say it’s a great introductory pattern for someone starting to learn/up-skill in how to knit a Celtic Cable/ Saxon Knot design. This pattern uses colour-coding to assist in differentiating cable types and keeping track of the different cables used to create the Celtic/Saxon Cable. This was the best way that I learnt, and I find it the best way to teach. Size notes: My finished case comfortably fit my Ipad Pro 10.5-inch or a large book/several small books (as shown in the display photos). The case has overall measurements of: 29cm wide 21.5cm long (with the closed flap). Personal Gauge: 10cm x10cm in 2x2 ribbed stitch on 9mm needles = 17rows x 15sts Difficulty Level: Intermediate Pattern Language: Written Pattern in English Materials: - 12ply (depending on your location, this yarn-type may also be labelled as: Chunky/5 Bulky. I have used Moda Vera’s ‘Shiver’ yarn, it is 100% acrylic. I have displayed it below for reference purposes – I would personally suggest you look for a yarn with great stretch as this comes in handy when cable knitting. I used 1.5 skeins but this may vary to the sizes you choose to make. - Straight or circular needles of 9mm/US13 and 10mm/US15. - Stitch holder (this can be a double-sided knitting needle or a designated stitch holder) - Measuring tape. - Tapestry needle. - Buttons of your choice (I only used 1 button). - Scissors.
