[See the first design in the series here.][1] A simple but engaging garter-stitch shawl; you can knit this with yarn weights from lace to sportweight (and maybe beyond), play a bit loose with the gauge, and knit it to any finished size you want. Blocking also gives you options here: block it to its more relaxed, natural dimensions, or make it spiky and curvy by pinning out the points for a more extravagant effect. This construction works well with a gradient or self-striping yarn! To get an effect like the sample without using handspun, substitute Noro Silk Garden Sock. **Materials:** * 400+ yards of sportweight yarn (should work with sockweight too) * 1 24-48" circular needles in US4-5/3.5-3.75mm, or size needed for gauge * tapestry needle for weaving in ends * removable stitch markers * optional: buttons sized to fit eyelets knit with the yarn you’re using **Gauge:** Gauge is 18 sts and 28 rows over 4"/10cm of garter stitch, worked flat and blocked firmly. Please be sure to check your gauge, or to not check your gauge and just choose a gauge that works for your project, since this should work well with a variety of yarns. **Measurements:** Blocked squarely, the sample measures 18"/45cm deep at the center point and about 45"/1.11m. Blocked in a more spiky way, the sample measures 16"/41cm deep by 50"/1.27m across the longest side. Final measurements mayl vary quite a bit on a fully-customizable shawl like this one.
