I am happy to introduce my newest shawl pattern, Bus Mornings Shawl. This smaller sized shawl was inspired by a dear friend who always wears beautiful neck coverings. I love how their fabric pieces bring pops of color to their beautiful outfits. This design was also inspired by the cold mornings when I get the school bus ready.
**Bus Mornings Shawl has been professionally tech edited with easy to follow pattern layout. In lieu of payment for this shawl, please consider donating to a local to me non-profit that is doing INCREDIBLE LEGACY work in our community; [Kitsap Black Student Union][1]. You can donate any amount to their PayPal page [here][2] (suggestion for payment amount $7.00). THANK YOU!**

DESCRIPTION
Bus Mornings is a smaller sized shawl to keep the neck warm without creating too much bulk and restriction. Instead of the typical shawl construction of being worked from the top down or bottom up, I wanted to use the ridges, created when working garter stitch, as a design element in this piece. This means that this shawl is worked from the beginning point of the shawl ‘wing’ to the end shawl ‘wing.’ Working the shawl horizontally like this creates the garter ridges vertically around the neck.
Customizing this shawl would be very easy to do, either by changing the weight of yarn used or by adding/subtracting stitch increases/decreases. Make it your own!
PATTERN NOTES
Bus Mornings is knit in garter stitch, casting on at the beginning of one shawl wing, then increasing on one side of the shawl only until the peak/midpoint of shawl is met, then you begin to decrease on one side only, creating the mirrored second half/shawl wing. This shawl is worked back and forth utilizing soothing garter stitch. The shape of this shawl is an elongated, shallow-depth triangle which was created by making increases and decreases in a specific pattern. The shawl's wings are long enough to loop once around the neck and then tied or pinned, so that it will not fall off when doing tasks (or loading students in the bus, like me). Optionally, once you have completed the shawl body, you can crochet a border around the shawl edge for an extra pop of color.
