**Beinn Airigh Charr** *This simple hap, with its decorative scallop-shell border, is inspired by women’s work in the shielings of Wester Ross. It’s named for the beautiful shieling hill which you can see (and walk to) from Poolewe.* **Yarn** Kate Davies Designs Ooskit 4 ply (100% British Wool; 220m / 240yds per 50g skein) A Siller: 4 x 50g skeins Kate Davies Designs Milarrochy Tweed (70% Wool; 30% Mohair; 100m / 109yds per 25g ball) B Lochan: 3 x 25g skeins **Needles and Notions** Gauge-size needle (80-100 cm / 24-32 in) Tapestry needle **Gauge** 21 sts and 36 rows (18 garter ridges) to 10cm / 4 in over garter stitch when stretched and blocked. Use 4mm needle as a starting point for swatching. **Pattern notes** This hap is knitted, back and forth, all in one piece, in two contrasting shades throughout, from edge to tip. First a deep, decorative border is worked in scallop-shell lace, then the body of the hap is worked in simple garter stitch stripes. Decreases along one side create an elongated triangular shape, while a two-tone braided edge is created at the end of each row with slip stitches.
