This leafy cable was the perfect motif to feature in a shawl designed to debut at the 2026 Red Alder Fiber Arts Fest in Tacoma. It’s knit in DK Yakity Yak from Greenwood Fiberworks, a deliciously soft and drapey yak blend that ranks among my top favorites. You’ll enjoy every minute of working with it! **This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions. ** **Recommended Yarn:** Greenwood Fiberworks DK Yakity Yak - 65% superwash Merino / 20% yak / 15% silk - 232 yds (212 m) to 100 g per skein. Sample is shown in colorway Lime and uses 3 skeins in total - 696 yds (636 m). Yardage estimates include a 10% cushion for gauge differences. **Sizing:** 61” (155 cm) across and 27.5” (70 cm) deep. **Blocked Gauge:** 16 sts and 28 rows to 4” (10 cm) in stockinette st. **Needles:** US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle (or size that gives gauge), 32” length. *PLEASE NOTE: I actually knit the sample with a US 8 (5 mm) needle, but as I tend to knit fairly tightly, I’ve listed needles one size smaller. Changes in gauge will affect finished size, look of motifs, and amount of yarn used.
