Corrugated ribbing is knit first, followed by a section of stranded colourwork and finished with another block of corrugated ribbing, before casting off the top edge. The name of this headband comes from the two main inspirations for the design – ‘peerie’ is the Shetland word for small and ‘peewit’ is another name for a Lapwing. I’m lucky enough to live and work in Shetland, managing nature reserves, some of which are home to breeding Lapwing. **Materials** * Yarn Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift - 2ply jumperweight (2ply equivalent to 4ply/fingering weight. 100% Shetland wool. 105m per 25g ball) Yarn A: Leaf 788 - 10g/42m Yarn B: Granny Smith 1140 - 5g/21m Yarn C: White 304 - 8g/34m Yarn D: Shetland Black 101 - 5g/21m If using different yarn please check it has a similar meterage per ball and you meet guage to ensure you have enough of each colour to complete your headband. - 2.5mm needles – 40cm circular - 3mm needles – 40cm circular - Tapestry needle - Stitch markers for BOR and pattern repeat - Double pointed needles or longer circular needles for magic loop **Guage** 30 stitches and 38 rows over 10cm on larger needles in stranded colourwork **Size** Headband circumference – 52cm Headband depth – 9cm **Abbreviations** BOR – beginning of round K2tog – knit two together ***Some helpful notes:*** **Floats** There are long floats in the pattern (up to 12 stitches at a time). You may want to catch them.
