> Pattern is **25% off** during the presale period (Jan 27th-Feb 26th). No code needed, so you can just add it to your cart for the discount. *WARNING: Knitting this pattern may result in a need to make obscure puns that only a middle-aged male from the American Mid-West would understand.* A fun homage to the Apple TV show *Ted Lasso* **How Does This Work?** * It's a knitting pattern for a generous shawl/wrap/scarf-thingy. * Those purchasing the pattern during the pre-sale period (see below) will receive a planning sheet with gauge and materials info. * There will be **6** clues for the mkal. **Clue 1 drops on Friday, Feb 27th, 2026** (first thing in the am EDT), with clues 2-6 releasing on each of the following Fridays. * As each clue is published, you will receive an update with that Clue (via Ravelry download). * We can chat about each clue in my [Ravelry Group][1] and/or our [mkal Facebook group][2]. * The yardage listed includes wiggle room. Even small differences in gauge can result in using more or less yarn than listed, and since it's pretty awful to run out of yarn, I want to ensure that you finish without having to play yarn chicken. So unless you have more yarn yardage than the pattern calls for, **you need to match gauge (or slightly tighter) as well as some of the measurements** that I give you early on to check. **What Am I Getting Myself Into?** * The pattern is written for 4 full (400 yard) skeins of fingeringweight yarn in 4 different colors * There is colorwork, but no brioche or stranded colorwork at all. There is one row within one of the stitch patterns that uses 2 strands of yarn on a given row, but it's **not** what you'd really consider "stranded." and it's worked by only holding one strand of yarn at a time. Plus, I'll have a video for you. * I'll give you an occasional out (bc who doesn't need one now and then?), you'll be able to substitute one stitch pattern with another. I'll let you know when/where. * The pattern is accessible for beginners and experienced knitters alike. There will be some lace, slipped stitches, simple cables or twisted stitches, dips, and other unusual stitches, but I’ll provide **video tutorials to help you along** with anything out of the ordinary. * All stitch patterns will be written out in line-by-line style, and several of the patterns (if they're not a 2-stitch repeat, for example) will also be charted. **Any charts will have line-by-line directions accompanying them**. * The shawl will be rectangular and will be a bit of a Festival of Stitches sort of thing. Some stitch patterns will be repeated, some won’t. If you've knit my mkals before, this is very much on brand for me--you know I like cool constructions and mitered mysteries:) * There will be several show references in the pattern, but you won’t need to get the jokes in order to work the actual shawl instructions. **What About Yarn Colors?** * 4 full skeins of 4 different colors ("C1, C2, C3, and the CC") of fingering weight that play nicely with each other. Any of them can be slightly speckled, but I wouldn't recommend it be much busier than that. * Each skein needs to have 400 yds (more is fine) to make sure that you have enough yarn for the project. The 400 yds includes some wiggle room. * Not all of the colors need to contrast with all the others. Instead, only ONE of the colors, the CC, needs to contrast with the rest. * “CC” is the Contrasting Colorway * CC needs to contrast with C1, C2, and C3 since it will be used in colorwork with each of these 3 colors individually. * C1, C2, and C3 don’t have to have much contrast with each other—they much only contrast individually with the CC. * C1, C2, and C3 *can* be in a gradient (my set is) but they don't have to be. They should still harmonize with each other since they will still be right next to each other in the shawl (think: Stripes. Ish) **Dyers:** [Miss Babs Yarn][3] [Emma's Yarns/Four Purls][4] [Baa-Realis Fibre][5] Canadian dyer [The Fibre Studio][6] [Wolhobby (NL)][7] [Marianated Yarns][8] [Sweet Paprika Designs (Canadian Dyer)][9] [Amanda][10] Hope Yarns P.P.S. If you’re on the fence, check out my previous MKALs on Ravelry—this one will be of a similar vibe. If you’re looking for a literal interpretation of Ted Lasso in shawl-form, however, you won’t find it here haha! The shawl won’t feature a giant soccer pitch or have little soccer balls dancing all over the colorwork. I use the characters & show as inspiration for stitch patterns and work to have our cast of stitches work together in a cohesive shawl that’s fun to knit and has an appealing look overall.
