Broccoli Sockoli socks

Broccoli is not only delicious (although my son claims differently!) it is one of the prettiest vegetables, with its flower like florets and of course it´s known to be super healthy too. Once the Holidays have passed, we are enouraged to eat more greens and maybe take a healthier route after the excess of any festive celebrations. I now feel inspired to knit and wear some healthy, delicious and cute looking Broccoli Sockoli socks to help motivate me (to put down the chocolate!). And of course these broccoli socks are happy and smiling. Like we will be when wearing them! **Construction Notes** These socks are knit from the top down with a ribbed cuff and have an eye of partridge heel flap and gusset. There´s a stranded colorwork motif with large, happy, broccoli florets on the leg. The head of the broccoli has some purl stitches to help create broccoli floret texture. The face details can be knit with 3 colours in one round or duplicate stitched, whatever is preferred. Tiny colorwork baby broccoli florets are knit just before the toe. **Sizing** 1 (2, 3) To fit (foot circumference): 8 (9, 10) inches / 19 - 21 (21.5 –23.5, 24 – 26) cm Finished circumference: 7 (8, 9) inches / 17.5 (20, 22.5) cm Recommended ease: Approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) of negative ease. For your foot circumference, measure around the widest part of your foot. Further sizes can be achieved by going up or down a needle size. Leg/foot length can be easily adjusted. Sample shown is knit in size 2 for shoe size US 8.5 (EU 39, UK 6), foot circumference 8 ¾ inches (22.5 cm). **Yarn** MC and CC1: Fingering weight, Knit Picks Stroll Tweed (65% superwash merino wool, 25% nylon, 10% Donegal Tweed), 231 yds (211 m) per 50g skein. CC2: Fingering weight, Madelinetosh Twist Light (75% superwash merino wool, 25% nylon), 473 yds (433 m) per 100g skein CC3: Fingering weight, Lang Yarns Jawoll sock (75% wool, 25% nylon/polyamide), 221 yds (202 m) per 50g skein. Shown in MC: Reindeer Heather 58 (60, 68g), 245 (253, 287) m / 268 (277, 314) yds CC1: North Pole 25g, 53 m / 58 yds CC2: Jade (1 skein) 8g, 35 m / 38 yds CC3: Kiwi (1 skein) 5g, 20 m / 22 yds Any fingering weight sock yarn can be used for this sock pattern, as long as you can obtain the same gauge. **Needles** For ribbing and stockinette: US 1 (2.25mm), 32-inch (80-cm) circular for magic loop**, or** DPNs, **or** two circulars or a 9-inch (23-cm) circular needle (as preferred). For colorwork: US 1.5 (2.5mm), 32-inch (80-cm) circular for magic loop, **or** DPNs, **or** two circulars or a 9-inch (23-cm) circular needle (as preferred). **Notions** Stitch markers, scissors, tapestry needle for sewing in ends. **Gauge** 32 sts x 44 rnds = 4 inches (10 cm) for ribbing and stockinette. 34 sts x 38 rnds = 4 inches (10 cm) for colorwork.
