*Make a Wish* shawl is all about light, texture, and warm feelings. Its gentle colorwork pattern is inspired by white dandelions: soft, airy, and full of small hopes. ◍•ᴗ•◍ Blow on a dandelion, make a wish, and wrap yourself in that hopeful feeling all year long!
> I am happy to end this challenging
> year with such a sweet, gentle design
> - it's my own stitch-by-stitch wish for better days ahead, and I am
> sending those same hopeful vibes to
> you. Happy New Year!
**CONSTRUCTION**
The shawl features a non-regular triangular shape with an elongated colorwork corner, creating a soft, drapey, and comfortable fit.
It is worked in two directions, making it easy to adjust to your preference: by changing the width of the colorwork insert at the beginning, or by making it shorter or longer as you go, which also changes the size of the shawl's body.
**MATERIALS**
- Malabrigo Sock; light fingering / 3 ply; 440 yd (402 m) per 100g skein; 100% merino wool
- Hook: U.S. E-4 (3.5 mm)
- Yarn needle to weave in ends
**YARDAGE**
2 skeins in MC (Polar Morn or Ochre) and 1 skein in CC (Natural)
**GAUGE FOR SWATCH**
26 sts and 20 rows = 4″ (10 cm) worked in linen st patt only.
An exact gauge is not crucial for this design.
**FINISHED MEASUREMENTS**
Colorwork insert dimensions:
1. Width: 10¼'' (26 cm)
2. Length of the shorter side: 24½'' (62 cm)
3. Length of the longer side: 49'' (124 cm)
Body triangle dimensions:
4. Left side (attached to colorwork insert): 24½'' (62 cm)
5. Top edge: 39½'' (100 cm)
6. Bottom side: 31½'' (80 cm)
Shawl dimensions:
7. Wingspan: 67'' (170 cm), including 27½'' (70 cm) along the tip of the colorwork insert and 39½'' (100 cm) along the body
8. Left side: 49'' (124 cm)
9. Right side: 42'' (107 cm)
**TECHNIQUE**
The colorwork stitch pattern is based on the linen (moss) stitch, with some chains replaced by specific textured stitches: raised double crochet (you can find it in my [Leaf shawls and tops series][1], [In Three Ways collection][2], and in Chapter 2 of the [New Ways with Crochet][3] book) and front post treble crochet stitches worked in slightly unusual place.
★ The pattern has been professionally tech edited.
★ Language: English (US crochet terms).
★ Pages: 12
*I create new crochet stitches to show a quieter, softer side of crochet: calm, simple, and casual. My patterns may look unusual at first only because the technique is new to you, just like your first chain or single crochet once was. After a little practice, it feels easy and natural.*
