The Color Compass Pullover

The Color Compass Pullover is my love letter to that process: a celebration of bold choices, surprising combinations, and the freedom to follow your own creative path. The Color Compass Sweater is a circular-yoke stranded colorwork sweater, knit from the top down with optional short rows before the colorwork begins. The pullover has an earlier-than-usual sleeve split that gives extra flexibility through the upper body and arms. The yoke increases and colorwork are charted, and the colorwork continues after the split for sleeves, with optional increasing after the split for sleeves, (recommended for Sizes 6-11). There is optional waist shaping for the cropped body, which is finished with a simple 1x1 ribbed hem. The arms are knit straight until just before the cuffs, where there is a sharp decrease at the ribbing. Yarn: Yarn: Sample 1 knit in Honer Och Eir Nutiden yarn, held single. Sample 2 knit in Sonder Yarn Sunday Lux Sport. One strand of a dense unspun yarn, or a sport-dk weight spun yarn is recommended. Because yarns in the sport-to-DK range vary widely in yardage per gram, and testers used a broad range of fibers, I recommend planning for up to 100 yards (90 m) per color for sizes 1N–7, and up to 120 yards (110 m) per color for sizes 8–11. Needle Sizes & Lengths: Yoke, Body, and Sleeves: US 5-7 (3.75-4.5mm) depending on yarn choice, circular needles in lengths of 16, 32 and/or 40 inches (40, 80 and/or 100cm), and/or magic loop or double pointed needles for sleeves.
