The Hungry Cardigan

Overview: The Very Hungry Cardigan is a straight silhouette cardigan with set-in sleeves. It features a small apple and caterpillar or snail motif along the bottom. The garment is constructed bottom-up, creating flat panels in stockinette and then seaming the panels together. Materials: **Yarn - Sport or DK weight recommended.** If choosing to do the snail design, only colors A-F are necessary.If choosing to do the Caterpillar, colors A-H are necessary. Alternatively use color C in its place) ~ I used scrap yarn Approx. 50cm required Color H - Purple ~ I used scrap yarn Approx. 50cm required Recommended Needles: * US 6 (4.0mm) circular needles (80cm or 100cm) or needle size needed to hit gauge Recommended Notions: * Removable stitch markers for colorwork motifs and seaming garment together * Bobbins for intarsia knitting * Tape measure * Scissors * Button(s) * Tapestry needle for weaving in ends Construction: Both the back panel and front panels are knit flat from the bottom up, beginning with the bottom ribbing, followed by the charted colorwork motifs, then continuing in stockinette until shaping for the armholes. Stitches are bound off for the neckline each shoulder is then worked separately until reaching the desired cardigan length. The back and front panels are joined at the shoulder seams using the mattress stitch. The sleeves are knit flat from the bottom up and seamed onto front and back panels using the mattress stitch. The cardigan sides and sleeves are then seamed together using the mattress stitch.
