Monet fell in love with Giverny while looking out of a train window, eventually buying a house and land there and creating the magnificent gardens that became the subject of many of his most famous paintings. Like Monet’s paintings, the **Gardens of Giverny Cardigan** combines brightly colored lace “lilies” with simple frames. The lace is framed with garter stitch and, in this design, stockinette. The cardigan is worked seamlessly from the bottom up. The body is worked flat in an all-over short-row lace pattern, then divided into fronts and back, which are worked separately to the shoulders. The shoulders are shaped with short rows. The collar is worked next, followed by the sleeves, which are picked up around the armholes. The tops of the sleeves are shaped with short rows before the sleeves are worked in the round to the cuffs. The body length can easily be adjusted to achieve your preferred fit.
