Little Knit Pumpkins

The Little Knit Pumpkin is a plant sprite, observed in cottage gardens and vegetable patches. Notable characteristics include a short stem and tiny, stick-like legs. Frequently seen trying to blend in with regular pumpkins in gardens or on house porches in the fall. The pumpkins are constructed with small amounts of yarn, making them particularly well-suited for stash-busting and using up leftovers from other projects. This pattern is also available for free [on my blog][1]! **Size** The finished pumpkin is approximately approx. 20cm / 8” around at the widest point and 4cm / 1.5” tall (not including the optional legs). **Yarn and Yardage** The pumpkin uses fingering weight sock yarn, and needs 40 yards total. 30 yards for C1 (orange), 5 yards for C2 (green), and 5 yards for C3 (brown, optional). Sock yarn with nylon or silk, or a high twist is preferred, as it will be more durable. Black embroidery thread or scraps of black fingering weight yarn are also needed if working the eyes. **Needles and Gauge** US 1 / 2.5mm, or size needed to achieve a tight fabric. Exact gauge isn’t important for this pattern, but the fabric should be tight enough not to show stuffing.
