Little did I know, this past weekend two years ago, that I (and you) would still be in love with the addictive Riptide stitch pattern. It's been two wonderful years of knitting adventure with this stitch pattern, and one that's not nearly over!
To celebrate two years of Riptide Love I've designed this little scarf, the Riptide scarfette. It is perfect for using up any leftover DK yarn or that special skein that’s been waiting to hop on your needles.
**You need approx. 100m or 50g of DK yarn for the small scarf and just over 200m or 100g for the larger size. Happy stash diving!** See note on gauge and yarn below.
It is worked tip to tip, to desired length and width. The pattern gives you two sizes, but you can easily adjust size to your own liking.

The pattern has both written and chart instructions.
**EXPERIENCE LEVEL**: Advanced Beginner.
**SIZES:**
Length (tip to tip):
Small (Large): 100cm/ 40” (140cm/ 56”)
Width (at widest):
Small (Large): 6.5cm/ 2.5” (9cm/ 3.5”)
All finished measurements are taken with relaxed fabric after blocking.

Yarn required:
Small (blush pink): 0.5 Skein, 50g (105m/ 115 yds)
Large (silver grey): 1 Skein, 100g (211m/ 231 yds)
See note on Gauge and yarn below.
**NEEDLES & NOTIONS**
Size 4.0mm/ US 6 needle, straight needles or short circular (40cm/ 16”), or size needed to obtain gauge.
Tapestry/Darning needle.
Stitch markers: 4 total.
Weighing scales.
**GAUGE**
36 sts x 32 rows = 10cm x 10cm (4”x 4”) in 1 x 1 rib unstretched, after blocking.
Gauge is not crucial for this project, but it will affect meterage and final size if different.
**A few words on gauge and yarn**
This project can be worked with any yarn or at any gauge. You can increase to the width and length you desire.
If you don’t have a DK weight yarn in your stash, it is recommended that you adjust the needle size if the resulting fabric looks too loose or drapey. Here’s a tip - if you can easily identify the purl increases or your edge slipped stitches look a little loose, you need to go down a needle size and start over.
Don’t worry too much about a gauge swatch. My suggestion to you is to cast on the pattern straight away. The Beginning Tip will be your swatch, and if it looks great, you just continue. If it’s too loose, rip it out and start over with a smaller needle. It’s a super-fast beginning, and you’ll re-knit it in no time.
