About This Pattern The Mirkwood Shawl was inspired by the Forest of Mirkwood in the enchanted world of Lord of the Rings. This Intermediate Level shawl uses tall front post stitches which give texture along with negative space to complete this modern design. Once set up, this shawl uses a 6 row repeat, and is customizable in size. Materials • 3 skeins of Stylecraft Special DK (3.5 oz./323 yards) • 900-1000 yards of any DK or Fingering weight yarn may be used • Size 4.00mm crochet hook Measurements and Gauge • When using the recommended yarn, the sample shawl has a wingspan of 70 inches with a depth of 32 inches and used approximately 950 yards using 11 repeats • Blocking is recommended with this shawl to highlight stitch definition • 21 double crochets and 9 rows = 4 “ square
