Star Island Socks

This cuff-down sock pattern contains beginner-friendly broken seed stitch for texture. This stitch pattern will showcase two contrasting colors, but will still add visual interest if the knitter prefers to use one color. Additionally, highly variegated hand-dyed sock yarns will shine as the pattern highlights unique color changes. Optional stripes will provide additional interest to the socks. Off the coast of New Hampshire and Maine lies a small group of islands called the Isles of Shoals. Historically used by Native Americans and European colonialists for fishing, the islands are now home to research facilities, private homes, and even a hotel. Star Island, the largest of the New Hampshire Islands, enjoys a ferry service which allows visitors to explore this unique location. The stitches of this sock remind me of breaking waves as well as the unique shape of Star Island. It is a fitting name for this delightful sock! Yarn requirements: Fingering weight Most shortie/ankle socks won't require more than 50g of yarn, but if you are knitting an adult medium or large, or knitting longer socks, I'd suggest a 100g skein. If knitting the two color version, you'll use more of the MC than the CC.
