Andromeda Throw

The Andromeda Throw is the little sister to the Andromeda Mosaic Blanket (also available in my Ravelry store) and is a smaller version of the pattern with a reworked Envelope Border. I hope you love it! This Throw is an Overlay Mosaic pattern worked together with Tapestry Crochet, and is worked from the bottom up in one piece. A Mosaic Crochet Envelope Border which beautifully finishes your project is included with the pattern. This pattern is written in US Crochet Terms. Overlay Mosaic is a crochet technique which creates intricate colour work designs using very simple stitches. This pattern is worked with the pattern side (right side) of your work facing you at all times, and working one row at a time from right to left. Traditionally in Overlay Crochet two colours are used, a background colour and a pattern colour. You work with one colour at a time, cutting yarn at the end of each row, alternating colours each row. The cut ends are most commonly hidden between layers in an envelope border. This pattern also includes some Tapestry Crochet, which is a term given to working small areas of colour work, picking up and dropping new colours as needed and controlling yarn with the help of some form of bobbin to prevent tangles. The methods for using Tapestry Crochet in this project are described within the pattern. You can choose whether to include the Tapestry elements or not, and to include 1 or more different 'colour-pop' tapestry colours into your project. The charts and written pattern will guide you on colour placement. Yarn I used in this project: HOBBII FRIENDS WHEEL - (100g/400m) #47 Main Colour – 1600m, #29 Contrast Colour – 1600m HOBBII TWISTER SOLID - (100g/400m) #150 Tapestry Colour – 250m This is a Fingering weight (4ply) yarn. Both yarns above are 55% Cotton and 45% Acrylic. The completed Throw, including the envelope border measures: 41” x 50” / 104 cm x 127 cm. You can use any yarn you like to work Mosaic Crochet, but be aware, using a different yarn weight / hook size will alter the size of your finished project and use more yarn.
