**About the Design** This pattern is worked in overlay mosaic crochet using two contrasting colors referred to as Light Color and Dark Color, allowing you to personalize your palette while maintaining clear visual definition. Always make a swatch to know wat your gauge is. • Additional Supplies: tapestry needle, scissors Exact yardage will depend on yarn brand and personal tension. ________________________________________ **Gauge** Gauge will affect final size and yarn usage. I advise you to make a swatch of at least 20 stitches and rows so you know what you gauge is with the yarn you like to use. Then measure in the center of the swatch how many stitches there are in 10x10 cm (4x4 inch). This way you can also aim on the size of the blanket you like. If you like the project to be slightly bigger, you can choose a bigger hook size and or use heaver yarn. Project size 216 stitches wide × 291 rows tall (excluding starting chain and border stitches) (approx. 137 x 162 cm / 55 x 64 inch): • Total yarn: approx. 5556 – 7313 meters (6076 – 7997 yards) DK / Light Worsted Dark Color: approx. 47 – 48% of total yardage. Light Color: approx. 52 – 53% of total yardage As a guideline, this equals approximately: Dark Color: 2127 – 2803 m (2325 – 3065 yd) Light Color: 3430 – 4510 m (3751 – 4932 yd) Using a smaller hook size will reduce overall yarn usage; a larger hook or looser tension may increase it. (We assume stitch size is estimated as follows: Single Crochet (sc): 0,055 m – 0,07 m (approx. 2.2" – 2.8") per stitch. All single crochets are worked in the back loop only; all double crochets are overlay stitches worked into the front loop of the stitch two rows below in the same color. ________________________________________ **How to Start** We can start in 2 ways. 1. Regular Chain foundation: We begin with a foundation row (row 0) in color B (the dark color): Begin with a foundation chain of 219 chains, (216 pattern stitches + 2 border stitches + 1 turning chain). Start the return row in the 2nd stitch. Work one row of single crochet back to the beginning before starting row 1 of the mosaic pattern. 2. Foundation Double crochet I especially advice you to start with a foundation double crochet. This way you create a nice first row and the stitch is the same as the rest of the project. If you use this method you should start with 216 foundationstitches. Tie the end of and start row 1 from the right side in the first stitch (this is the BS) ________________________________________ **Finishing** You may weave in the ends or apply an envelope border to conceal them. Blocking is recommended to achieve a clean, flat finish and enhance stitch definition.
