Brambly, a pair of mitts inspired by the beloved Brambly Hedge stories by Jill Barklem and the protective hedgerows that shelter nature’s little creatures through winter. Designed for Worsted Grey, these mitts celebrate the beauty of this special yarn, with its warm, frosted hues reminiscent of brambles dusted with frost and early signs of spring peeking through the undergrowth. The Brambly mitts feature a folded rib cuff and a delicate slip stitch detail on the hand. Brambly is a simple, thoughtful design. The plump, soft texture of Worsted Grey makes these mitts a pleasure to knit and wear, bringing a touch of warmth to late-winter days. Designed to use just one skein of yarn, Brambly is the perfect project for when you’re looking for a quick knit during a cold snap. Sizes: 1 (2, 3) Finished hand circumference: 17.5 (19, 21) cm / 6.75 (7.5, 8.25)” Total length with cuff folded (adjustable): 23 (24, 25.5) cm / 9 (9.5, 10)” Needles: 4 mm / US 6 80 cm / 32” circular needle for magic loop or double-pointed needles Gauge: 23 sts x 34 rnds = 10 cm x 10 cm [4”] in Slip Stitch using 4 mm / US 6 needles 24 sts x 26 rnds = 10 cm x 10 cm [4”] in 2x2 rib using 4 mm / US 6 needles Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn Yarn: 1 skein, Annabel Williams Worsted Grey (Worsted weight, 33% Bluefaced Leicester, 33% Zwartbles, 33% Falklands Merino, 200 m/219 yds per 100 g/3.5 oz skein). Or approx. 150 (168, 188) m / 164 (184, 206) yds of worsted weight yarn. Before you begin: The pattern uses almost a full skein for size 3 when using the original yarn.
