Yarn weight and hook size are completely variable, larger weight yarn will produce a larger final piece. I personally used approximately 1600 yds of yarn A (Twister solid in black) and 1400 yds of yarn B (Sultan in Fire Opal - deconstructed for a long gradient) with a 4.5 mm crochet hook for a finished piece of 42"x57".
