Hurricane Season

The single pattern is boomerang shape only.** Shortly after I packed my family into two cars and hit the road to evacuate ahead of hurricane Milton this shawl was cast onto my needles. I had hurriedly put together a series of charts that I was fairly confident would work and luckily I was right. This lace pattern does require you to pay attention, but it isn’t particularly challenging. By varying between several simple textures and manipulating these textures with spaced out lace I was able to create something that excels in highlighting fairly intensely multicolored and variegated yarns. But of course it will look great in solid as well. Another fun detail of this shawl is that while it isn’t truly reversible, it does look great on both sides due to the combination of stockinette, reverse stockinette, and ribbing found in the lace pattern. While I love the light fingering weight yarn I chose for my sample, the open ended nature of this design is suited to accommodate other yarn sizes. On page 2 of the pattern you will find guidance on how to pick your own perfect pairing of yarn and needle to create your own version of this shawl. The finished size of my sample is 14" X 48" (35.5 X 122 cm) The pattern can be worked both completely from written instructions and with a combination of written and charted instructions.
