Kaleido Cardigan

The Kaleido Cardigan is designed to creatively use up a mix of yarns and colours from your stash. It's knitted in all-over stranded colourwork stripes with solid rib trims. The drop-shoulder design offers a relaxed fit with longer-length sleeves. Guidance is also provided for creating a standard-length sleeve and a cropped body. The body is knitted flat in one piece from the bottom up, including the central plackets and button holes. Stitches are picked up and knitted around the neck to form the neck trim and around the armholes, working the sleeves in the round from the top down. This pattern provides easy-to-follow detailed instructions using the following techniques: Long tail cast on, stranded colourwork, knitting flat, knitting in the round, knit, purl, slip stitch, decreasing, increasing, picking up stitches, cast off. **Skill Level:** Intermediate. **Sizing:** 8 sizes (XS-4X) see size guide. Alice wears size 2 (S). **Yarn:** Aran/worsted weight yarn with approx 90m/98yds per 50g. You will need approx. 709g/1276m [755g/1359m, 782g/1408m, 855g/1539m, 879g/1582m, 972g/1750m, 1029m/1852m, 1067g/1920m]. There's a full breakdown of yarn amounts in the pattern, below are some approx amounts per stripe: 1 body stripe = 19g/34m [20g/36m, 22g/40m, 24g/43m, 26g/47m, 28g/50m, 30g/54m, 32g/58m] of colour a and colour b. 1 sleeve stripe = 10g/18m [11g/20m, 11g/20m, 12g/22m, 12g/22m, 13g/24m, 13g/24m, 14g/25m] of colour a and colour b. Please note that 90m per 50g is an ideal weight for the tension. However, we used a mix of weights between 75m-125m per 50g. You can mix in some DK weights for some of the stripes or ply up thinner yarns, whatever you have in your stash! **Suggested Needles:** 3.5mm/US 4 circular knitting needles, length 100-120cm/40-47'' and 50-60cm/20-24''. 5.5mm/US 9 circular knitting needles, length 100-120cm/40-47'' and 40-50cm/16-20''. **Gauge:** Stranded colourwork stripe pattern on 5.5mm/US 9 needles: 10cm/4’’ x 10cm/4’’ = 22 stitches x 21 rows **Language:** English
