A fantastic way to use up **scraps or mini skeins** of DK yarn for endless colorplay, this top-down pullover pattern uses non-stranded colorwork patterns that shine over a semi-solid or solid color background. Short sleeves keep the dreaded “Sleeve Island” at bay and lets you wear the sweater comfortably during those "shoulder seasons" of fall and spring. Looking for kits? [Miss Babs has several][1] up here! **Short rows lift the back of the neck** for a more comfortable fit, and the directions include a way to avoid the extra "hole" that often forms when returning to in the round knitting. Note that you can skip the short rows if you prefer. The "stick" pattern used on the sweater is **not brioche** but Fisherman's Rib which has the same effect but doesn't require slipping with a yarn over (much easier!). The central pattern motif of the fallen leaves uses just 1 round of stranded knitting per repeat (it's actually easier than typical stranded...the video shows you) with the remaining rounds being a slip stitch pattern that only uses one strand of yarn per round. **Want long sleeves instead of short?** Many test knitters did this, and they kept knitting the sleeves until they reached their elbow and began doing decreases to the cuff.
