SUNFALL Who doesn’t love a beautiful pink sunset over a ­mountain range? The Sunfall shawl ­stretches the limits of short-row colorwork knitting - it’s like ­intarsia, but without having to knit with more than one strand of yarn at a time. Please beware that there is a LOT of counting in this shawl! The number of rows may seem daunting, but in all fairness, most of them are short-rows so they are quick and easy. If you are a visual knitter and a chart lover like me, the charts are available for ­download s­eparately. They are very large, so I recommend ­either reading them on a ­computer, or printing them on A3/US ledger or larger. SIZE The sample shawl is ­approx 28 cm high x 128 cm wide before blocking, 33 cm high x 150 cm wide after blocking. GAUGE Ca 22 sts x 52 rows = 10 x 10 cm before blocking, 20 sts x 44 rows = 10 x 10 cm after ­blocking in sample shawl. Gauge is not ­crucial in this project. YARN Garntanten Sock, superwash fingering 425 m/100g. The colors used are part of an Advent calendar kit from ­December 2024. Each mini is 20g, except the peach which is 50g.
