**About This Pattern** This is a fun knit that explores stitch texture, fibre texture, colours and negative space knitting. Treat yourself to some new yarn or raid your stash to put your favourite colours together. Solid colours, variegated, speckles - all types work with this design. Get creative and, most importantly, have fun! The pattern has been written and structured in a way that supports all levels of knitting experience. This includes: * A very clear, tabular layout. * Detailed stitch counts for all row repeats. * Video support for the more complex/uncommon techniques. * Photo-tutorial on how to block the finished shawl to achieve the crescent shape. * A simplified approach to the 2 colour Brioche technique by only using traditional knitting terms. There are no Barks or Burps in this pattern - only K2togs and P2togs! **Sizing** You have the option of making two sizes: large or small. *Large.*This is is my yellow sample, using 4 colours. Its dimensions are 225cm (L) x 58cm (D). *Small.* This is my green sample, using 3 colours. Its dimensions are 183cm (L) x 45cm (D). **Needles** * 3.75mm 100cm circular needles. * I highly recommend using sharp-tipped needles as these will make knitting the “giant holes” easier. I used ChiaoGoo red lace needles. **Yarn** * Hedgehog Fibres Sock 100g/400m 90% Merino Wool, 10% Nylon * Hedgehog Fibres Alpaca Boucle 100g/620m 66% Alpaca, 34% Silk Large Size (Yellow) Colour A - UFO (Sock) *96g/384m used* Colour B - Hush (Alpaca Boucle) *30g/186m used* Colour C - Sugar (Sock) *75g/300m used* Colour D - Silence (Sock) *45g/180m used* Small Size (Green) Colour A - Puffball (Sock) *60g/240m used* Colour B - Envy (Alpaca Boucle) *22g/137m used* Colour C - Fly (Sock) *51g/204m used* *Note: I love using Alpaca Boucle because of the dense fuzzy fabric it creates, but it can be a tricky fibre to work with. I find it almost impossible to rip back on a large scale if you make a mistake. Consider using Kidsilk Mohair or replacing a fuzzy yarn with another skein of sock if you are new to knitting or not confident in using the boucle.* **Blocked Gauge** * 22 stitches and 22 rows* over 4”/10cm in Brioche. * To achieve row gauge, I’ve looked at the column of knit stitches and applied the rule 1 stitch = 1 row. You should have 12 knit stitches in total and they should measure approx 2"/5cm. **Other Materials** * Tapestry needle to weave in ends. * Stitch markers (optional). **Notes on Pricing/Currency** I price my patterns according to level of complexity and/or amount of work that has gone into producing a pattern. My free patterns tend to be very simple designs with very simple patterns. I have customers from all over the world, so I sell in USD - a currency that most people will recognise the value of. If you would prefer to pay in AUD, please head to my website and purchase this pattern there. Downloads from my website will come with a Ravelry code so you can download a copy to your library. Times are tough and I have the capacity to provide up to 5 free patterns a month to anyone who can't squeeze new patterns into their budget. This is a no questions asked process - just send me an email at knittedbyjacquiverbeek@gmail.com requesting a free pattern. If I have any available, I'll send you a Ravelry download code.
