Tree Coasters

A fun and fast way to use up small quantities of a DK weight yarn. Make them two ways (striped or dotted) and/or reverse the main and contrasting colors. Worked top town in mosaic garter stitch with two contrasting color yarns. Gauge and dimensions are provided in a DK weight cotton. Mosaic garter stitch involves garter (knit) and slipped stitches using one strand of yarn for two rows at a time (switching color strands every two rows). If you can knit stripes and slip stitches it will be easy. Use contrasting solid colors or try semi-solid/tonal yarn for one of the colors. As long as the contrasting and main colors contrast well, the pattern will reveal itself.
