The Butterfly pattern works with a wide variety of yarns. Hook size selection will vary accordingly. The treble crochet on Row #5 is simply a normal Treble Crochet (TC) stitch inserting the hook from front to back into the indicated stitch in Row #2. The treble is worked into that 4th stitch 2 rows below, then when the yarn is pulled through the bottom part of the Treble, it encloses the two chains in Row #3 & Row #4 and creates the butterfly body. Thanks to Joan Elisha, there is a YouTube video showing you how to work the treble stitch as well as the first 2 pattern repeats for the shawl. The link is: [link text][1] Ravelry member azbelle3 (Sandy) was kind enough to tell us about the video. Thank you, Joan, and thank you, Sandy. For the written directions beyond Row 10 see Skrpune's Butterfly Stitch Shawl project page. Row 11 and additional directions can also be found on slhendri's project page. Missprincesa - Blanka Moral - sent us a Spanish version of the pattern which she translated as she made her own beautiful shawl. We thank you, Blanka, for all your hard work. We had hoped for a Spanish version of the pattern for a long time. Silvana A. from Italy recently sent us her wonderful Italian translation of this pattern. Thank you, Silvana! (Ravelry ID: Papaplei) for this wonderful translation. She recently posted her photos of her own completed shawl on her Ravelry page. She has been teaching a crochet class at a local yarn shop and decided to translate the pattern for her class. Thank you for sharing it with us all. We are also happy to offer you a German version of the printed pattern translated by Jasmine Ornes. We thank Jasmine for her translation and for allowing us to post it on this page. [1]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObrHl8fCFWU Thanks to Erika Stande, who is Ravelry member fingerscroched, we are happy to add a Swedish translation to the pattern. Her directions include still photos of some of the more interesting areas of the pattern. She also has a blog which shows a number of her other lovely finished projects. This little pattern continues to evolve and there is a rectangle version of it posted on Bertay's (Roberta's) butterfly project page. Her pattern modifications are explained in her Butterfly Sisters Regatta shawl and its sister Butterfly Sisters Sugarcane. We thank her for sharing her pattern with us. We now have a Danish version thanks to the kindness of Camilla Brix! Thank you Camilla.
