Original pattern (English) was designed so I could make a present to cheer up a friend who had undergone surgery to remove a cyst on her ovary. The pattern has since been used widely in America to help protest unfair legislation targeting women’s reproductive rights. The pattern is now also being used as the mascot for an [advocacy group in Germany][1] fighting for a woman’s right to be sterilised. The German translation includes instructions on making ovaries and adding the knots in the Fallopian tubes which are the symbol of the group. [1]: https://www.selbstbestimmt-steril.de
