**To link this pattern in forums please use "Annis Susanna IC"** I love traditional triangular shawls, but sometimes they are difficult to keep in place without a pin. I have been experimenting with different shapes that could be simply tied like a scarf or have longer ends that would drape gracefully around the shoulders. Annis’ distinctive crescent shape lends itself to numerous ways of tying and draping, making it a versatile accessory. The shawlette is knitted in one piece starting at the outside edge of the lace and the narrow curved shape is created by a unique set of easy short rows (no wraps). The interesting combination of lace and simple stockinette stitches makes Annis a fun and fast project. Total 150 nupps or beads as written. Loose **cast on** is essential for successful project; go up one needle size if your CO is usually tight. In addition, to help eliminate the guesswork of leaving a long-enough tail, you can use both ends of a center-pull ball for CO. The simple or twisted loop COs work well with this lace edge, but should be followed by one purled row before starting the lace chart. Firm **bind off** is important because the crescent shape needs to be supported during blocking to allow the lace points to stretch fully. Stretchy bind offs may result in curling along the top edge and in less depth to the project’s points. The **Mini Annis** directions are available on my project page: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/zuzusus/annis-3 (approx 220 yards of lace or fingering yarn, beads instead of nupps) Questions or comments about my designs?
