You have an option to work either opposing twist or spiraling twist patterns. Both patterns will create pleats, but the overall look will be different once the fabric is open. Short size has 3 pattern repeats while Tall has 4 pattern repeats. However if you wish you can work more or fewer, combining or alternating them. Please account for additional yarn. When pleated, the fabric resembles a stack of rings.
